M&Y Maintenance and Construction collects top employers' accolade

St Helens-based M&Y Maintenance and Construction is celebrating after scooping a top employers’ award for a third time.  M&Y, which is part of the Regenda Group, first achieved a coveted Investors In People Gold in 2012 and has now been re-accredited.

Gold standard is only achieved by three per cent of the 14,000 organisations which participate in the IIP programme.

An external inspector praised M&Y for its attitude to staff learning and development and a commitment to health and wellbeing within its workforce.

Executive Director, Gill Kelly, said: “We are thrilled to have achieved gold status with Investors In People for a third time. Their assessment process is detailed and rigorous. Staff were interviewed from across the business, in all areas and all directorates and the feedback was extremely positive. The assessor said he was overwhelmed with the ambitions coming from staff about the business and their own personal growth within M&Y. Considering we have seen a growth of around 30% in the last 12 months and a lot of change to management, new roles, premises and systems, this is a fantastic achievement.”

M&Y specialise in responsive repairs, planned maintenance and is now moving into property development. The company employs around 250 staff at its head office in St Helens and its depots in Merseyside, Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

The company became an IIP Champion in February 2013, joining a group of role model organisations who share best management practice with other companies to help them improve.

Investors In People is an internationally recognised accreditation which defines what it takes to lead, support and manage people well for sustainable results.
