Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy, delays in benefits, low income, unexpected bills or family breakdown.
If you are struggling to feed yourself or your family, food banks can provide emergency food provision for up to three days at a time.
The Trussell Trust is a charity that runs one of the largest networks of food banks in the UK. Search their website to find a food bank near you.
You will usually have to take a food voucher to the food bank in return for an emergency food package. You can get a food voucher from your local Regenda Homes neighbourhood office, your GP, social worker, Jobcentre and Citizens Advice Bureau.
Volunteers at the food bank will talk to you over a cup of tea or free hot meal and refer you to agencies that can help solve the long-term problem.
If you want to set up a food bank in your community, you should contact the Trussell Trust.
If you need a food voucher or help finding a food bank please contact your local neighbourhood office.
If you ask us for a food voucher, we will offer you as much support and advice as possible to help solve the long-term problem. We have specialist members of staff who can help you reduce debts, apply for grants, claim the benefits you are entitled to and get back into work.
