Seaside communities set for bumper investment

Regenda Homes is set to pump £10m into four estates across Fleetwood in a bid to improve living standards for residents.

The five year project will improve insulation and the external appearance of 600 homes in Flakefleet, Westview, Broadwater and Warren Farm.

The works will see old cavity wall insulation, which was deemed unsuitable in the long term by an independent report, replaced with a newer method, external wall insulation (EWI). The external appearance of the properties will then be improved with new cladding.

We have instructed our in-house contractor, M&Y Maintenance and Construction, to carry out the work.

The programme will help improve energy efficiency in homes and reduce heating bills for residents, and will also reduce the potential for condensation issues, including damp.

The independent report, commissioned by Regenda, also deemed a number of properties no longer fit for purpose. We will be fully supporting its affected residents by providing compensation and helping them find a new home.

Stephanie Harrison, Executive Director of Customer Services at Regenda Homes, said: “As an organisation we are committed to investing in our communities and ensuring our residents live in homes of the highest standard.

“Along with improving the external appearance of our homes, the programme will have major health benefits and will help reduce incidents of fuel poverty.

“While this significant investment is great news for many of our residents, we understand that this is will be an upsetting period for those finding out their homes are no longer fit for purpose. However, this was a decision that was made with their long term interests at its heart and we will be supporting them throughout the process.”

Regenda Homes will now commission master planning specialists to draw up a range of development opportunities for the area.

The investment is part of our 10 Year Vision for Fleetwood, which was created following engagement with stakeholders, communities and partners.
