Regenda’s loan shark drama has real bite!

The Regenda Group has commissioned a powerful play to raise awareness of the dangers of loan sharks.

Don't Let The Shark Bite, a tale of fear, guilt and shame, will be performed free-of-charge for the housing association's residents living in the Oldham area.

The production has been scripted and stage managed by the Oldham Coliseum Theatre and stars young drama students from the local Oasis Academy.

Regenda’s project manager, Chris Standish, says the play has been commissioned as part of a five year arts action plan with the local council.

"The danger posed by loan sharks is a relevant and important issue. The more people who we can alert and inform the better. Oldham Credit Union and our own money advice team will be at each of the performances to show there are viable financial alternatives and that help is available," said Chris.

The play, written by Carly Henderson from the Oldham Coliseum Theatre, is a powerful account of what happens to a young woman who borrows £600 from ruthless loan sharks.
