Regenda in the community news

Cakes, coffee and MacMillan fundraising! There’s been lots happening in the community so we wanted to share some of the things our staff and residents have been up to.

Our Scheme Managers put together lots of fundraising events around the North West for MacMillan as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. A big well done to everyone involved in raising money for this amazing charity. Together they raised a whopping £2,334.49!

As part of Anti Social Behaviour Awareness Week, staff in Fleetwood joined partners to tackle ongoing nuisance in the area. Regenda staff joined Housing Officer Communities and Lancashire Police on a walkabout, taking a collaborative approach to addressing issues of nuisance. Residents in the area told us that they have seen a reduction in anti-social behaviour thanks to partnership working.

Denton St Lawrence, one of our housing for older people schemes in Denton, Manchester, welcomed staff from Manchester Fire Brigade into their scheme over the summer to talk about staying safe from the risks of fire. Residents also learned of the importance of regularly checking smoke alarms to ensure they are working.

Residents learnt about dangers in the home, such as:

  • Not leaving a phone charger plugged in when it’s not in use and not charging a mobile phone over night
  • Never leaving a plug-in air-freshener turned on if there is no oil left
  • Regularly defrosting fridges and freezers
  • Not overloading plug extensions

Residents at Woods Court, Liverpool, enjoyed an Autumn Fair in October! One very talented resident ran a craft stall full of home made knitted and craft items. There was a tombola, name the bear competition and delicious food prepared in the communal kitchen. Resients and staff raised more than £600, which will be used to throw a big Christmas party in December!
