Helping you stay gas safe

Throughout the year, and especially during Gas Safety Week, we want to raise awareness of gas safety and the importance of taking care of your gas appliances.

Badly fitted and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires and explosions. They can also release and carbon monoxide (CO). CO is a highly poisonous gas that can kill quickly and without warning - you cannot see it, taste it or smell it.

By taking care of your gas appliances, you are taking care of your home, your loved ones, and your neighbours. Follow these few simple steps to keep you and others safe.

  • Check your Gas Safety Record. By law, Regenda Homes must keep the gas pipework, appliances and flues in your home in good condition. We will arrange a gas safety check every year and will provide you with a copy the check.

  • Check for warning signs that could indicate that your (or others) gas appliances are not working correctly. Signs may include lazy yellow /orange flames instead of crisp blue ones, error messages or unexpected noises from your boiler or dark and sooty stains around your gas appliance. If you notice anything like this, please call us straight away on 0344 736 0066.

  • Know the six main symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning – headaches, dizziness, breathlessness, nausea, collapse and loss of consciousness.

  • Check that you have an audible carbon monoxide alarm and look out for your community by making sure your friends, relatives and neighbours have one too. Check they are marked EN50291 and display the British Standards’ Kitemark.

  • Allow access to Regenda Homes for your annual gas safety check which keeps you and your neighbours safe. Your gas safety check takes around 45 minutes to complete.
