Crisis cafes

Crisis Cafes are an alternative to A&E and provide a listening ear, a safe space, crisis and recovery interventions and referrals to ongoing support services. Crisis cafes offer support in areas like:

 

  • Debt advice, benefits and welfare services
  • Domestic violence support
  • Access to housing and homeless prevention services
  • Substance misuse and addiction support
  • Health, wellbeing and counselling services
  • Access to peer support worker for additional, follow up support.

Household support fund

The Household Support Fund is money from the Department for Work and Pensions. It helps people with low incomes who are struggling with money.

New funding is available from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026. Councils are using this to support people and families who need extra help.

Support into work

Get Oldham Working is a Council-run service that helps Oldham residents find jobs, apprenticeships, and training opportunities.

  • Access to local job vacancies

  • Support with apprenticeships and traineeships

  • Feedback on job applications and CVs

Free Holiday Clubs

Families with children who get free school meals can join free holiday clubs. These clubs offer healthy meals and fun activities during school holidays.

Healthy Start Scheme:
