The Housing Ombudsman wants your feedback!
The Housing Ombudsman is an independent, free service for social housing residents. They help to resolve complaints between tenants and landlords in social housing, making sure that residents are treated fairly and landlords (including us) provide a good service to residents.
The Housing Ombudsman is introducing a new process about what information social landlords should share with their residents. This is called the Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements, also known as STAIRS.
As part of this introduction, they are asking residents for their feedback on how they as the Housing Ombudsman should handle complaints about STAIRs requests.
They are completing a survey to hear what you and all social housing residents think about:
- whether it’s clear who can complain to us
- whether the time limits for complaints seem fair
- whether our planned approach to allowing residents’ access to landlords’ information (STAIRS) will provide fair outcomes.
What is STAIRS all about?
STAIRs stands for Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements. STAIRs aims to give you and all social housing residents the right to information about the management of social housing.
STAIRs tells us what information we need to share with you as our residents and customers.
Have your say
Giving your feedback will shape the information all social landlords, including us, will share with social housing residents across the country.
If you would like to provide your feedback, please respond to the survey by 17th March 2026.
