No one should struggle to access food. There are national charities and many local foodbanks and community pantries that can help.

Merseyside

  • Liverpool - Full List of Foodbanks: 
  • Feeding Liverpool: Local food support initiatives.
  • Sefton, Wirral, St Helens, West Lancs: All have Household Support Fund links offering food assistance.
  • Liverpool Citizens Support Scheme: Offers urgent needs awards for food and necessities via vouchers. Apply by calling 0800 456 1523.

Cheshire

  • Local councils may provide emergency food support via the Household Support Fund.
  • HELP Scheme (Cheshire West & Chester): A discretionary scheme for emergencies. Contact 0808 175 3599.
  • Emergency Assistance (Cheshire East): A non-cash safety net for people in crisis. Call 0300 123 5013.
  • The Bread and Butter Thing: A mobile food club providing low-cost weekly shops in areas like Ellesmere Port and Blacon.
  • West Cheshire Foodbank: Provides three days of emergency food via referral. 

Greater Manchester

  • Greater Manchester suggests using Household Support Fund and local authority schemes. Foodbanks and community pantries operate throughout the region.
  • Humans MCR: A delivery-based food parcel service covering Manchester, Salford, Rochdale, and Stockport.
  • Greater Manchester FOOD Clubs: Run by Family Action, offering approximately £15 worth of food for a £4 weekly fee.
  • Feed My City: Provides hot meals and emergency food bags across Manchester and Salford.
  • Urban Outreach (Bolton): Operates the Bolton Food Hub and Storehouse Foodbank.

Lancashire

  • Fylde & Wyre food support: Local foodbanks and pantries listed via council support pages.
  • West Lancs Household Support Fund: Includes food help.
  • Household Support Fund: Distributed by district councils (e.g., Preston, Lancaster, Burnley) to help with food and energy costs.
  • Morecambe Bay Foodbank: Provides food parcel deliveries; referrals can be obtained via Lancaster City Council.
  • South Ribble Community Shops: Includes The Base and Wade Community Shop, offering roughly 10 items for £2.50-£3.50.
  • West Lancashire Borough Council: Provides food vouchers for those in extreme financial hardship (Call 01695 577177)
