Petrus wins again at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park

Homelessness charity Petrus Community, part of The Regenda Group, has returned to the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park, following their 2019 debut – and has scooped the bronze award from show judges!

Their garden, titled Full Circle, has been designed by staff, volunteers and service users and aims to challenge stereotypes around homelessness and mental health, allowing the team to showcase their incredible achievements.

Two of our other subsidiary companies have provided funding to support Petrus’ garden at Tatton Park, with M&Y Maintenance and Construction and Regenda Homes donating funds and providing support through staff volunteers.

Les, a Petrus service user and volunteer, said: “Petrus and Petrus PIER have been a big part of my life for a long time.

There are some of us who have different support needs but it’s so good that we have each other and that we can do something so great together.

“PIER is a place where I can go to relax - it’s been really good for my mental health. We’ve all enjoyed being a part of Tatton. It takes a lot to put together but it’s like football - you have good and bad times, but you just need a good team behind you.”

Rachael Bennion, Petrus Service Manager leading the Petrus team at Tatton, added: “Taking part in Tatton means so much to our service users and volunteers. It has given them belief in their skills and the chance to learn just what they’re capable of. We’re hoping that people will feel inspired by the work that Petrus does and to see what people can be capable of if the correct support is in place.”

Gill Kelly, Managing Director of M&Y, said: “We were proud to sponsor Petrus at Tatton in 2019 and are delighted to support them this year! We’re constantly inspired by the achievements of Petrus’ service users and volunteers and can’t wait to see them bring their vision for their garden to life.”

Andy Carberry, Director of Care and Support at Regenda Homes, said: “Seeing Petrus volunteers and staff put so much hard work into bring their design to life, tackle negative stereotypes by sharing their stories and go onto win all with massive smiles on their faces was just so incredible.
