Last month the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, announced the consortium of organisations that has been commissioned to deliver Housing First in Manchester.

Led by Great Places Housing Group, Regenda Homes, Petrus Community and the Bond Board will lead on delivering the project in Rochdale, Bolton and Bury, with other organisations rolling it out across all 10 local authority areas of Greater Manchester.

The consortium brings significant experience, expertise, passion and commitment and brings together housing, health, people and lived experience, as well as the community and voluntary sector.

Housing First is an international evidence-based approach that uses housing as a platform to enable individuals with multiple and complex needs to begin recovery and move away from homelessness. It will look to support over 400 rough sleepers and those at risk of rough sleeping in the region.

The project will be rolled out by Jigsaw Homes in April throughout Oldham, Stockport and Tameside with plans to introduce it in Rochdale, Bolton and Bury in June 2019.

Regenda Homes has been chosen as the zone lead in Rochdale, Bolton and Bury due to its outstanding track record of co-production, its significant knowledge, experience and existing housing stock in the areas, and its extensive community of people with lived experienced through Petrus Community.

Petrus Community and the Bond Board have been chosen due to their experience with Housing First, their relationships within the area, and for the added value they will bring. The Bond Board will help to provide access to the private rented sector, while Petrus will provide an insight to those with lived experience.

Andy Carberry, Director of Care and Support at Regenda Homes, said: “We’re so pleased that the consortium has been awarded the Housing First bid.

“We’re really excited to be working with an excellent group of companies across Greater Manchester and the difference we will make when working together.

“Regenda Homes, Petrus and the Bond Board will begin rolling out Housing First in our areas this summer”.
