Another successful end to the Step into NHS programme

Through partnership working with Northern Care Alliance, Enterprise Trust, Onward Homes and Get Oldham Working, we have supported 17 Oldham residents through the Step into NHS programme, which helps participants into paid positions withing the NHS. Roles include those in customer service and business administration, healthcare support and laboratory technician positions within Oldham hospital or their community setting.

Mina Ahmed, Regenda Homes Regeneration and Skills Officer, said: “Congratulations to all the learners who completed the Step into NHS programme at the St Chad’s Centre. Learners completed the 8 weeks programme and will go on to complete one week placement at local hospitals. Going forward, those who completed the programme will have priority for jobs within the NHS.

The programme was a great success and an excellent example of partnership work. Thanks to all the partners for their hard work and effort to bring this programme together.”

Participants learn about health, safety and wellbeing, equality and diversity and NHS values, as well as learning skills such as communication and teamwork. At the end of the six week training programme, they receive a one week work placement and guaranteed interview. From this cohort of learners, one Regenda Homes resident has been offered employment with a care home.

The next training programme will begin in February 2022 – to find out more, visit Ways2Wages at St Chad’s Centre, every Thursday between 1pm and 4pm. No appointment necessary.
