The Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government are looking for social housing residents to join their Resident Panel.
What is the Social Housing Resident Panel?
The Social Housing Resident Panel brings together up to 250 social housing residents from across the country so they can directly share their views with the government and ministers.
Who runs the Social Housing Resident Panel?
The Social Housing Resident Panel is run by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. They are responsible for making sure communities are involved in decision making and making sure homes are affordable and accessible for people.
What does the Social Housing Resident Panel do?
The Panel chooses the most important topics about social housing. Panel members share their ideas, then, government workers try to find ways for the Panel to help shape new rules, based on those ideas.
The Panel have already taken part in:

an online community on understanding experiences of anti-social behaviour (this link will take you to a different website in a new window).

focus groups on meaningful and effective resident engagement (this link will take you to a different website in a new window). to help shape how the Social Housing Regulation Act is being put in place.

focus groups on effective and respectful landlord communications with residents (this link will take you to a different website in a new window). which have helped to shape the Competence and Conduct Standard. This standard will set new requirements for social landlords to ensure their staff have the skills, knowledge and behaviours they need to deliver high quality services to tenants.

an online community on residents’ experiences of the complaints process with landlords and the Housing Ombudsman (this link will take you to a different website in a new window).. The Panel’s views helped inform the Make Things Right communications campaign.
How to apply
If you are interested in joining the Social Housing Residents Panel, you can apply to join the panel by filling in a short application form.
The closing date for applications is 11pm on Sunday 7 September 2025.
If your application is successful, somewhat will let you know in September.
