Community Clean Up Event in Tameside

Our Housing Officer and Caretakers took part in a muti agency Community Clean-up Day in Tameside on 22nd June. This was a joint initiative to tackle ongoing fly tipping issue within the area.
Fly tipping from the alleyways and gable ends were cleared, finishing off with a litter pick of the area.
The local school was in attendance educating the children on the importance of looking after the area they live and the impact of fly tipping and vermin it can attract.
Residents were also provided with recycling information to prevent the increase in contaminated waste.
It’s really important to keep our communities clean and clear. If you need to dispose of bulky items, many local councils offer a paid for collection service. There are also free sites where you can give items away and ask that someone collects.
Tips for clearing clutter and large items
• Give to charity - check that the shop will accept items
• Communal bins stores - if you live in a flat or sheltered accommodation, place items in the relevant bins if there is room
• Items that are too large to fit in communal or wheelie bins can be taken to your local tip
• Use your local council’s service for removing bulky items.
