Fabric District CIC announces new Chair

The Fabric District CIC was established to help regenerate the historic Islington and London Road area of Liverpool City Centre, known for its rich roots in the fashion and textile industry. The vision for the district, is to fulfil the area’s economic and cultural potential and regain its status as a vibrant part of Liverpool City Centre.
The area has seen an emergence of businesses and people choosing the area as a place to live work and play. To help continue drive this forward, Michael Birkett, Group Chief Executive of the Regenda Group, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Fabric District CIC.
Michael, who has been a Board Member since the Fabric District CIC was established, replaces founding Chair, Jason Abbott, who will maintain an active role in supporting the district’s future. Tom Hyatt, a multidisciplinary artist and PhD candidate at Liverpool John Moores University’s School of Art and Design, is also welcomed as a new board member. Tom will be leading on the 2021 Fabric District Arts Festival, a celebration of the diversity and creativity the area has to offer.
Michael Birkett commented: “I would like to thank Jason Abbott for his work in establishing the Fabric District CIC and for his vision of what the area can become. I am looking forward to working with the Board and our local partners on how we can work together to further regeneration opportunities and develop the innovative business and arts culture that this fantastic district has to offer”.
