Fleetwood students feeling inspired as programme finishes

Pupils from schools across Fleetwood celebrated the end of a six month careers project with a special graduation ceremony last week.

The Be Inspired and Raising Aspirations programmes, designed by Positive Footprints, aim to improve the life chances of young people through developing employability skills and providing information on career paths.

Taking place at Fleetwood High School, the graduation ceremony was attended by representatives from the participating primary and secondary schools and all students who completed the projected were awarded a certificate

During the programme, there were a number of business events which gave students the chance to speak with professionals from a range of businesses, including M&Y Maintenance and Construction, Santander and My Dentist.

Steve Newsham, Regional Director at Regenda Homes, said: “I am delighted to see the positive impact the programme has had on all the students who have taken part.

“Helping young people in Fleetwood fulfil their potential will have a huge impact on the sustainable regeneration of this beautiful seaside town.

“This was the first year we have ran the project and we are already underway with big plans for next year.

“I would like to congratulate everyone who has taken part in the project, from pupils, to businesses, for making it such a huge success.”

Lesley Burrows, Managing Director at Positive Footprints Network LTD, said: "It was brilliant to see how the programme, positively impacted pupils, businesses teachers and Regenda staff alike. There was a huge sense of purpose in the room.

“Raising the aspirations and improving life chances for our young people should be high on everyone's agenda. These pupils are not just our future workforce, they will form our society and we need to set them up to win. That's just what the Regenda Group are doing and it makes sense on every level. We hope other housing providers follow Regenda's example."

The partnership with Positive Footprints is part of the Regenda Group’s 10 year vision to regenerate Fleetwood.
