Former Labour leader Ed Miliband visits newly insulated Wirral homes

Last year former Labour leader Ed Miliband MP made a special visit to  Maritime Court and Churchwood Court, to see our newly insulated homes built in partnership with Liverpool City Region funding. Regenda were the first Housing Association in Liverpool City region to complete these type of retrofit work through the Decarbonisation fund.

We upgraded 36 homes in Wirral our Maritime Court and Churchwood Court scheme, adding insulation to provide warmer, more energy efficient homes for our residents. The project was completed with funding awarded by BEIS to the Liverpool Combined Authority as part of Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.

The work included installing new external wall insulation, damp proofing, ventilation, roofing and windows. The planned improvement work was completed by M&Y Maintenance and Construction.

Former Labour leader, Ed Milliband MP said:
"Visiting these homes today brings home the reality of what having proper insulation can do - it saves money off people's bills but it also improves their quality of life.”

Shona Cullinane, Regenda Homes Investment Manager, added:
"We are proud to be one of the first housing associations to complete a retrofitting project as a part of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund in the Liverpool City Region. The work completed through receiving this funding has been integral for us improving the energy efficiency of our customers' homes, lowering carbon emissions, and reducing our customers utility bills.”

As a result of the new external wall insulation, our residents are saving money on heating bills and all EPC ratings are now C or above. We’ve reduced heat loss through walls, improved energy efficiency and reduced the risk of condensation and damp issues. We’ve also completed wider improvements to the scheme communal waste and recycling bins, as well as external decoration to improve the overall appearance of the homes.
