Greater Manchester Hate Crime Awareness Week 2019.

Regenda Homes works closely with partner agencies in Greater Manchester, to promote awareness and the reporting of Hate Crime in the Oldham area.

What is Hate Crime?

Hate crime is an act of violence or hostility that is directed at a person or group because of who they are or what they think they are.

It comes in many different forms such as, physical attacks, a threat of attack and verbal abuse or insults. Anyone can be affected by such incidents.

As many hate crimes go unreported, events are taking place this week to help those suffering in silence. Sadly, Hate Crime is still chronically under-reported to landlords such as Regenda Homes.

Hate Crime happens every day and third-party reporting centres play a vital role for victims and other residents who witness incidents and wish to report them.

How can we improve hate crime reporting?

From 12–19 October, staff at St Chads are aiming to raise awareness and encourage better reporting of Hate Crime from Regenda Customers and the general public alike.

St Chads in Oldham is an established third-party hate crime reporting centre. This enables anyone who is a victim or has witnessed an incident of Hate Crime to report the matter in confidence.

Regenda Homes works closely with Greater Manchester Police and Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council. Collectively we would like to promote events and activities being held across Oldham, to help residents gain a better understanding of what Hate Crime is and where to access appropriate support.

Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council has created a webpage to promote all the Third party Hate Crime Reporting Centres in Oldham.

You can view it through this link: https://www.oldham.gov.uk/hatecrime

Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Victim Services and Stop Hate UK have also produced a Hate Crime Awareness video
