Looking after your home, friends and family – Gas Safety Week 2025

This week (8th – 14th September 2025) is Gas Safety Week.
At Regenda Homes, we are joining thousands of people and businesses across the country to share why gas safety is important.
The theme for this year’s Gas Safety Week is ‘Looking after your home, friends and family’, so we’re sharing what we do as a landlord to keep you safe and how you can help to spot the signs.
Gas safety checks
What we do:
It is law that Regenda, as your landlord, must keep the gas pipework, appliances and flues in your home in good condition. We will arrange a gas safety check every year and will provide you with a copy the check.
We will send you a letter before your check and an engineer will arrive at your home with ID.
What you can do:
Let us know if your gas safety check appointment is at a date or time that doesn’t work for you. When you let us know, we can give you a new date and time.
Fire and carbon monoxide alarms
What we do:
We provide fire and carbon monoxide alarms for all of our homes. If your home is spread over more than one floor, you might have more than one alarm.
What you can do:
Please make sure you keep fire and carbon monoxide alarms installed and with working batteries.
If something isn’t right
If you spot:
-
lazy yellow /orange flames instead of crisp blue ones,
-
error messages or unexpected noises from your boiler
-
dark and sooty stains around your gas appliance
These are all signs that something is wrong with one of your gas appliances.
If you smell gas or suspect a gas leak, you must call National Grid Emergency on 0800 111 999.
For all other aspects involving gas, such as service appointments and heating breakdowns, please call: M&Y on 0151 7033396.
Our compliance team and gas engineers from M&Y headed to our Finch Court scheme to talk to residents about gas safety ahead of this year’s gas safety week. Listen to all their tips and tricks on YouTube, here (this is a link to another website and will open in a new window.)
