New apprenticeship scheme offers young people exciting opportunities in the construction industry

M&Y Maintenance and Construction is joining forces with St Helens Chamber to offer new training and employment opportunities to local young people.

M&Y, which is part of the Regenda Group, will offer eight weeks initial training in basic construction and health and safety skills followed by six months paid work experience and training.

Gill Kelly, Managing Director of M&Y, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people, we know that because everybody here at the company started as an apprentice and worked their way up. This initiative will help us to nurture our own apprentices and embed our business values into them right from the start.”

After successfully completing the programme and final interviews, trainees will be offered a permanent paid position and an apprenticeship training programme.

Young people aged 16 to 24 are being invited to attend the St Helens Chamber Jobs Fair at Langtree Park Stadium between 12 noon and 4pm on Wednesday 29 June.

The new training programme will start on 11 July.
