New Regenda Homes properties in West Lancashire are a big hit with local families

All the properties on a new Regenda Homes development in West Lancashire have been snapped up by residents who want to stay living in the area. The houses, at Burscough, were built to be offered to local people at affordable rent and all 12 were allocated even before construction work was finished.

Alan and Sonya Griffin, who have spent the last seven years living in a variety of private rented accommodation, were delighted to move into their new home on Holt Drive.

“We simply wanted a new home we could afford to rent in the area where we want to continue living. When we found out these were going to be built we expressed an interest straight away. We watched as the house began to take shape and it felt wonderful to move in,” said Sonya.

Regenda Homes built the development in partnership with West Lancashire Borough Council. A lettings policy ensured first priority was given to residents with a local connection to the area.

John Harrison, West Lancashire Borough Council's director of development and regeneration, said: “The Council is committed to ensuring there is an opportunity for local people to access affordable housing. We know there is a real need to develop affordable housing in our Borough and are pleased that our partnership approach with Regenda has developed such a popular scheme.”
