Celebrations as the Regenda's Group's maintenance and construction subsidiary marks 35 years in business

Staff at St Helens-based M&Y Maintenance and Construction are celebrating a milestone in the company’s history.

From humble beginnings 35 years ago, M&Y has expanded into a successful company, become part of the Regenda Group, employs around 240 staff and has a turnover approaching £20m.

Offering an all-round service from day-to-day repairs to specialist contracts, the company delivers high quality property maintenance and construction services right across the North West.

Managing director, Gill Kelly, said: "I truly believe M&Y is a very special business, a business that deserves to be as successful as it has become."

M&Y's longest serving member of staff, supervisor Denis Mason, joined as a labourer 32 years ago.

“Back then we only had one van and a pickup. Who would have thought the company would grow into what it is today,” said Denis. “Half of my life has been spent here, so it’s a good job I enjoy it!”

When M&Y began back in 1981, Prince Charles and Lady Diana were getting married, Seb Coe broke the world record for 1,000 metres and Raiders of the Lost Ark was showing in our cinemas.
