Regenda apprentices blaze a trail for their neighbourhood by creating a community garden in Liverpool

Regenda Homes supports a group of Community Wellbeing Apprentices who have a reputation for improving the local neighbourhood where they live.

Their latest project has not only changed the landscape but also created a lasting legacy of their hard work in Liverpool.

For months the apprentices have been busy transforming the land at the rear of the Breckfield North Everton Neighbourhood Council offices into a community garden.

They’ve created a colourful nature trail, constructed raised beds to encourage locals to grow their own food and built areas where people can relax and enjoy the new surroundings.

Project manager, Kevin Short, says the end result is a tribute to the hard work of the apprentices and the partners who support them.

“Every one of the apprentices has done something to contribute to the unbelievable transformation of the car park and the land behind the BNENC. They have created a community garden which we hope will be enjoyed and respected by all age groups for many years to come,” said Kevin.

Children from nearby Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School were invited to the official opening of the new nature trail and gardens which was performed by Regenda Homes Executive Director Stephanie Harrison.

“The gardens look so lovely and the schoolchildren had a lovely time exploring and discovering new things.  You would never have believed that a small corner of a car park in Everton could be turned into such a special place for the whole community,” said Stephanie.

Regenda Homes award-winning Community Wellbeing Apprentices scheme enables young people to follow a career of their choice while studying at college and also carrying out valuable community work.
