Regenda helps residents get ‘Ready to Work'

Last month, Commutation Plaza opened its doors to The Big Trust Charity, who used the facilities for coaching and mentoring sessions as part of the 'Ready to Work' scheme.

The aim of the day was to help those taking part in the programme boost their chances of finding full time employment, with interviews for work experience placements organised in the afternoon.

Twelve Regenda staff  took time out of their day to day roles to help calm participant’s nerves, answer any last minute questions and offer advice ahead of the interviews.

Steve Blackburn, Regional Director for Merseyside at Regenda Homes, said: “I was delighted to be able to volunteer to help this fantastic charity.

“Finding work after a long period of being unemployed is a very daunting task and understandably many were nervous about their interviews.

“All the staff at Regenda enjoyed taking time out of their day to day role to help answer questions and calm any nerves.

“I was also delighted to offer an opportunity to one of the participants a work experience position within the team here at Regenda.”

Alison Gibney from the Big Trust Charity said: “We are delighted to be working with Regenda Homes in giving their tenants an opportunity to make positive changes in their lives through our Ready for Work programme.”

Following the session, three of the eight participants have found full time employment.

Regenda Homes hosts a weekly employment clinic, Ways2Wages, in partnership with The Big Trust, Talent Match, Job Centre Plus and Liverpool In Work.

The event takes place every Thursday, 10am-2pm, at the Regenda Homes office, Commutation Plaza, Commutation Row, Liverpool, L3 8QF, and is open and free to all.
