Residents Take Centre Stage in Regenda Homes’ ‘Play in a Day’ Workshop
We’re putting together the finishing touches on our new Reasonable Adjustments Policy for Vulnerable Customers. It’s all about how we make our services easy to access for all customers.
To help bring our policy to life, we’ve been working with customers and colleagues to act out some key situations to help train our teams. Along with a Virtual Script Writing Workshop, we recently held an Acting Masterclass for Regenda Homes’ residents.
Working side by side with colleagues, residents helped develop real life examples that show why reasonable adjustments matter and how they can support meaningful conversations with our customers.
We heard real life stories from our residents which will be used in our new training videos. This is important, as it allows staff to receive training that comes directly from our residents, putting the customer voice at the centre of our staff training.
By involving residents in writing scripts, acting and creating the scenarios, we’re building training that feels real, easy to understand and based on true experiences.
The workshop was a fun, relaxed and welcoming space where residents could try out performance techniques, share their own stories and help shape training that actually reflects what they need.
The masterclass included:
- Icebreakers and drama games to help everyone settle in
- Improvisation exercises to spark creativity
- Character development activities that encouraged residents to explore different perspectives
- Exploring and interpreting scripts bring written scenarios to life
- Confidence-building exercises
- Partner performance activity at the end of the day
Seven residents and one colleague took part, and the feedback was extremely positive!
One resident shared:
‘I really enjoyed attending the acting masterclass on Tuesday and found it both enjoyable and valuable. Thank you for organising it.’
A colleague added:
“I enjoyed the master class today!”
This enthusiasm shows how creative activities can build confidence, strengthen relationships and encourage residents who may not usually get involved to take part!
What’s next
The final part of the project will be a filming day to make the training videos that staff will use in the new Reasonable Adjustments programme. Residents who joined the Acting Masterclass and Script Writing Workshop will be invited to help with the filming and then come along to watch the first version of the training afterwards.
By working side by side with customers, we make sure our Reasonable Adjustments training is built with them, not just for them. This helps build trust, understanding, and better support for vulnerable customers across Regenda Homes.
