A warm welcome to our New Ferry residents
We’re very excited to welcome the first residents into their new homes in New Ferry. This is an important step forward in bringing new life, energy and confidence back to the community.
Last week, residents moved into 14 brand‑new affordable rent homes on Bebington Road. The homes form part of Phase 1 of the wider New Ferry regeneration project, delivered by The Regenda Group in partnership with Wirral Council.
A fresh start after a difficult past
The regeneration of New Ferry means a lot to local people. The area was badly affected by a gas explosion in 2017. The explosion destroyed buildings, caused serious injuries, and had a long‑lasting impact on the high street and local community. Residents moving into the first homes is a big, positive step in rebuilding the area and creating new opportunities for people who live there.
High‑quality, affordable homes for local people
The new properties on Bebington Road include 11 one‑bedroom and 3 two‑bedroom apartments available for affordable rent through. Every home has now been allocated and residents have moved in, creating a new and supportive community from day one.
A warm welcome and a cool treat
We hosted a street party to welcome residents to their new homes and new community. Residents had the chance to meet the people who built their homes, our Neighbourhood team who will be there to support them during their tenancy and people from the local area. It was great to get together, enjoy some sunshine and give our new community a warm welcome.
Looking ahead: Phase 2
Phase 1 is just the beginning. Planning has already been completed for Phase 2, which will bring 43 more new homes to New Ferry across Woodhead Street and New Chester Road. These will include a mix of two, three and four‑bedroom homes for social rent with us and Rent to Buy with Redwing. Construction on Phase 2 is set to begin in 2026, and homes will be advertised on Property Pool Plus when they're ready.
