We're one of seven housing providers with social rented and affordable properties in Oldham, who have made a joint contribution of £70,000 to a central grant fund for local communities. The fund is managed by Action Together.
Action Together, the body that brings together all voluntary groups from across Oldham, has been working hard to help get support and grants to local communities. Building on their experience this year, they are now changing their Community Response Fund to a Community Recovery Fund that also combines with other local grant funding to produce a single fund for community benefit and recovery.
The aims of the central fund include helping to build resilience in local areas, helping people and communities to thrive, encouraging people to develop their skills and to stay fit and healthy. Essentially, it’s about getting money out to the grassroots people and groups of Oldham to support their recovery from the pandemic which has come on top of problems that already existed.
Along with other housing providers with homes in Oldham, we have worked together for many years as Oldham Housing Investment Partnership, collaborating on joint projects as well as working closely with Oldham Council to ensure the best services possible are provided for the borough’s residents. In future, this will involve a close working relationship with the Strategic Housing Partnership, as well as a continued informal network to ensure a continued focus on meeting local housing needs.
“As housing providers, we all have a history of not only providing homes but also supporting local communities to develop and grow. This new fund provides an effective way of getting resources to people in need and to make a real difference to people’s lives. We’re committed to our partnership with Action Together so that together we can make that happen.”
