Taking care of our shared spaces together
Do you ever see things left in shared areas like hallways or stairs? Rubbish dumped in gardens and patios? We know this can happen. But it can cause problems.
What’s the problem?
Shared spaces are not always used in the right way.
Items left in:
- corridors
- stairs
- or by doors
can block the way. This is dangerous in an emergency and can make life unpleasant for people who share the spaces.
When things are left in corridors or stairs, people may not be able to get out safely. Fire crews may not be able to get in. Things left in these areas can also catch fire or create smoke.
What are we doing about it?
You’ve told us that items left in shared spaces and gardens doesn’t make you feel good about your home and community. We want to make our homes safe and pleasant for everyone.
We’re working with residents to:
- keep shared spaces clear
- make buildings safer
- listen to your feedback
If items are left in shared areas, we may remove them to keep everyone safe.
What can you do?
We can all help make our homes and communities nicer places to be. Small actions make a big difference.
- Keep hallways and stairs clear
- Store your belongings inside your home
- Think about your neighbours
- Tell us if you have concerns.
Let’s take pride in where we live
Shared spaces belong to everyone. By working together, we can:
- Keep each other safe
- Make our spaces look better
- Build a place we’re proud of.
