Topping out ceremony marks milestone for new development

Topping out ceremony at Lighthouse View

A ceremony has been held to mark the ‘topping out’ of the Lighthouse View extra care development in Fleetwood, Lancashire.

The event signifies the near completion of the £12 million development which is being built by Greater Manchester-based Bardsley Construction on behalf of Regenda Homes.

The development is a part of Regenda Homes’ 10 Year Vision for Fleetwood, which aims to regenerate and transform the area and provide health, wellbeing, employment and skills opportunities.

Lighthouse View will have 72 high quality one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. It will provide a safe and secure living environment for over 55’s who want to enjoy their independence with care and support available, as and when they need it.

Representatives from both Bardsley Construction and Regenda Homes marked the occasion with a walk through the development and welcoming speeches from both companies.

Stephanie Harrison, Executive Director of Operations and Customer Services at Regenda Homes, said: “I can’t believe we’re finally here. We started this project eight years ago and we’ve ended up with something amazing and transformational.

“We decided to do this development because of the changing demographics in the country; lack of housing was becoming a crisis for older people and we wanted to help.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has made this possible, especially the original residents of Wansbeck House who lived here before the development started. I’d also like to thank DK Architects, AJP Engineers, KGA, Markhams, Bardsley Construction and Wyre and Lancashire authorities for your support.

“I can’t wait until it’s finished. It’s going to make such a difference to the residents’ lives, their friends, their families and the local community”.

Ged Rooney, pre-construction director at Bardsley Construction, said: “Our delivery of this prestigious contract with Regenda Homes is further evidence of Bardsley being recognised for its provision of such specialist care facilities throughout the North West of England and Yorkshire.”

A preview evening is being planned in November to enable interested residents to explore the scheme, visit the apartments and see the lush surrounding gardens.

Lighthouse View is due to be completed in December 2019, with residents set to move in from January 2020.
